So I'm waiting right now at YVR to board JAL flight 017, and it's at this point that I start wondering, "Whatever am I doing?" Yes, of course, it's exciting to be off to Asia for my very first time ever. I'm thrilled to have this opportunity to see what God is doing in China. But I haven't been apart from Sandra for this long since 1997 when I went to Chicago for three weeks for graduate studies. And that time when I returned I was greeted with Sandra's amazing and very surprising news that a third son was on the way. We were two weeks away from leaving for Zimbabwe for several years, so that amazing good news caught us both rather off guard! But Zimbabwe turned out to be the very best place in the world to have a baby, and to raise a young family. I'm not so sure, however, that I'd be quite as excited if Sandra greeted me with similar news upon my return this time.
