This Sunday we celebrate Jesus’ ascension following his resurrection, and together they give us deep confidence and real comfort: they affirm that Jesus is our risen King, seated at God’s right hand in power and authority forever, and our High Priest, alive forever and interceding for us (Heb. 7:25). We will lean into both of these pictures as a source of comfort and hope this Sunday—especially Jesus as our High Priest, who continues to carry us into God’s presence. What a powerful picture: a King with the authority to act, and a Priest with the heart to care.
